FAQ'S

If there is any questions that are not answered here please contact uson 0844 800 5210 or info@tritan.co.uk.

  • Why should I choose Tritan radios over other Brands?

  • Tritan Professional Two way Radios offer the most cost effective solution to your Radio communication needs. All retail packs include Lithium-ion battery, Desktop charger and G-Shape Security style earpiece with in-line Mic and PTT. No other manufacturer offers this as standard.

  • Do I need a licence for my Radios?

  • Tritan offers two kinds of product: High powered 5 watt radios that need a licence and low powered PMR446 radios that do not need a licence.

  • How much is the licence?

  • The simple and most common licence is the Business Lite or UK General Licence, this is £75 for 5 years and covers all your radios be it two or two thousand . A licence Application is included with the radios. Other licences are available from OFCOM.

  • Can I have a licence?

  • There is no restriction on who can have a licence, it is as simple as buying a TV licence, But it is a professional product so we would suggest you would not let children use them as toys.

  • Will Tritan Radios work with my existing radios?

  • Tritan high powered radios can be programmed to match any other high powered radios, and the PMR446 can be matched with any other PMR licence free radios. Tritan also offer a programming Kit should you need to change the frequencies yourself.

  • Can I buy a radio that covers both high powered and licence free channels?

  • Yes, the Tritan PMR446 radio can also be programmed with the higher powered business channels, this can only be done because the licence free version has a fixed antenna, the PMR channels must still stay restricted to half a watt, licensed channels can work at up to five watts. These units are ideal if you are working on different sites with different radios, or work in UK and Europe.

  • Which version is best for me?

  • The PMR446 version is ideal for families and small businesses and small venues, no licence required and these radios can also be used anywhere in Europe.

The 5 watt versions are more suited to business users and those who need longer range communications.

  • What is the difference between VHF and UHF radios?

  • VHF and UHF are like petrol and diesel, they both get you there but in different ways.
Neither band is better than the other or more powerful.
UHF radios are better in built up areas such as cities, towns, industrial estates, shopping centres and buildings, ideal for a wide range of security uses.
VHF operates better in open country, ideal for farmers and gamekeepers .
